The streets of Johannesburg are always buzzing with people – all kinds of people with all kinds of fashion flair. I knew of one place that would offer some insight and material would be one of Jozi’s creative melting pots, Melville.
This weekend Melville played host to the annual Fête de la Musique – a World Music Day normally celebrated around the world in June but special arrangements were made this year for the local one. Read the official statement on the event here.
I went in without a clear theme but I arrived and my theme stared me straight in the face; patterns and colours are all the rage and this I had to capture. The journey started off with a stylish vintage blazer paired with drop-crotch pants, kind of Will-I-Am style but soon took me on what appears to be an evolution from last year’s Aztec and animal print and leaning just a little too much to MC Hammer style.
See the expression of my theme, “Patterns” below.
