Hello Summer: Look of the day

What winter? We haven’t seen much winter in Johannesburg which is something that i just can;t get used to. Being from Cape Town, I grew up with cold, wet winters that lasts until the end of the season.

Anyway, summer has arrived and I’m not exaggerating, it’s friggin hot and this means that it’s time for a new wardrobe. Up first, I found this haute look on fashion website, Alberto Bennet.

What do you think?

Lyle & Scott with Present London for SS14

Lyle & Scott and Present London are both quintessentially British. With a long-standing friendship and 140 above the door, Present offered itself as the perfect opportunity for Lyle & Scott to commence its 140th Anniversary for 2014.

This exciting collaboration for SS14 is a seven piece British made collection featuring four jumpers and three polo shirts, all 100% cotton.

Bold British colours; blue, red and white were chosen for the range. The hero pieces in the range are two Argyle jumpers, a nod to Lyle & Scott’s Scottish heritage by Present Director Steve Davis with his take on the Classic Argyle.

Some of my favourite pieces are the jumpers and a classic white shirt.  Have a look at the range by visiting www.lyleandscott.com/present.

One site that houses everything that you’ll love, one site that will rule your wallet… if you’re not too click-happy.

I was recently introduced to the latest online fashion store, Stylemology.com
To me, it wasn’t just another online store, it actually evoked emotion ( apart from making me really, really warm on the inside over everything that I saw on the site) but it took me down memory lane to my days spent abroad, where I used to “ooh” and “aah” at the cutting edge fashion that Europe had to offer. Trust me, the fashion is that good.

The online store has its roots in South Africa and was formed by a group of local entrepreneurs.  Bent on bringing exclusive fashion items to the masses, the store  is also armed with an out-of-this-world e-commerce site that offers you a safe and sleek shopping experience.

The fashion
The store has a clearly defined mens and womens range that caters for the trend-conscientious and ever-evolving fashionista and fashinosto.

The store houses some never-seen-before haute couture for the street with concessionary brands like ElevenParis, Shutz and Revolution to Private Label Brands (and proudly South African) Apologies Aside (a funk odyssey), Sgt Pepper (hipster galore)  and Golden Lace Club (jaw-dropping shoes).

Around the world
Yes, global fashionistas, the store caters for you. Click, double-click and your parcel will be on your way even to Australia and Europe! How’s that for global takeover?

Have a look around the shop at www.stylemology.com, follow them on Twitter for the latest updates or have a look at their awesome Pinterest board.

These are my favorite looks that can be found in store now.

Fashion Rewind

I should’ve known that it was only matter of time before the 80’s peaked its bouncy, colourful head into the runways and into our stores. Fashion always repeats but sometimes, in a much better, bolder fashion.

I received a sneak peak of Lyle & Scott’s Summer Season 2013 (SS13) Vintage collection and I’m happy to report that the items are VERY wearable. The fashonistas behind the “Golden Hawk”, have drawn inspiration from the British Youth “Casuals” Culture during the mid 80’s – a time influenced by the energy, style and attitude. I was also, just a toddler so I can barely remember what was hot or not. This now provides me with sort of clean slate and I can go absolutely mad with 80’s fashion.

Lyle & Scott only entered the South African market last year and so far it has not disappointed mostly because of the brand’s reputation for quality and craftsmanship but more so because of the their clothes being fun and preppy that oozes that cool, calm and collected British charm.

Key pieces pay homage to the ‘Casuals’ era and include lightweight colour blocked parkas, bold striped polo’s and flecked jacquard knits.

The New collection is dived into three themes:

3D Knitwear: Their iconic and well-crafted jumpers take on chunky cables and different textures geared for spring in lightweight Pima Cotton.

Classic British Sportswear: The Classic British Sportswear have been a given a new twist. Stripes and colour blocking will yet again dominate summer.

Summer Pastels: Clever ideas for clever shoppers like me; I buy items and colours with a long shelf life and this is why this is my favourite theme from the collection. The pastels are subtle yet vibrant and can be paired with anything. The palette consists of bold primary colours of Windsor Blue, Fern Green, Spectra Yellow and Red which complement more vivid and sun bleached pastel shades of Rosette Pink, Light Blue and Pastel Yellow.

Standout items for me are the polo’s and colour blocked parkas. Have a look.

Wanna be on Top?

It seems that the Fashion gods are smiling on us. Fashion giant, Topman will be opening shop on November 22 in Sandton City and I’m sure fashionistas are suffering from heart palpitations at the mere thought of it.

I decided to take a sneak peek of what’s to come and if their 2012 Summer collection is anything to go by, I am slightly disappointed – it’s a bit bold for my liking however,  I managed to find a few items that I think I could pull off.
