I have never been big on Father’s Day simply because it was never a thing. My dad was never around to be honest. However, I am in that stage of my life where most of my mates are father or becoming fathers o(no pressure here) and they are actually pretty amazing at being dads.
Father’s Day is on 21 June so this post is for all the amazing dads, stepdads and father-figures. I have compiled a few gifting ideas to up his style game, add to his man-cave or just simply to spoil him.
Step up: Brogues. That’s all. My favourite are from Dune London available at Edgars Stores.Fresh: Calvin Klein Reveal. Top notes include crystallized ginger, mastic, pear brandy and kiwano (African horned melon). Its heart contains aromas of suede, clary sage and agave nectar. The base includes tonka bean, vetiver, organic Haitian Orpur® and golden amber. Shade: Rayban Clubmaster – these are kick-ass. Little bit hipster, a little bit hot daddy a la Brad Pitt. Locally, you can get them from Sunglasshut retailing at R1, 799. Soothe: My personal favourite, the Africology Shaving Kit. It consist of cleaning gel, shaving cream and if you’re old man is a bit of a hipster, beard balm. It’s naturals and local. Get it from Africology outlets or the online store. Hot daddy: Yuppiechef Spicy Gift Box consisting of Suree sriracha extra hot chilli sauce, Jimmy Public olive oil, El Burro smoked jalapeños in adobo sauce, two Liefmans Fruitesse fruit beers, and Sansoms harissa paste. Retails at R399 form Yuppiechef. LP: The vinyl is back and who doesn’t want a “el pee” player, huh? The Crosley-Troubadour is cute and not too pricy. Get it from Musica or at The Gadget Shop. R3, 299. Styling: Winter is coming, to a province near you. A styling parka-hoodie is in order. They are everywhere, from Woolworths to Mr Price but I like this one for River Island.
