Hello Summer: Look of the day

What winter? We haven’t seen much winter in Johannesburg which is something that i just can;t get used to. Being from Cape Town, I grew up with cold, wet winters that lasts until the end of the season.

Anyway, summer has arrived and I’m not exaggerating, it’s friggin hot and this means that it’s time for a new wardrobe. Up first, I found this haute look on fashion website, Alberto Bennet.

What do you think?

Fashion: Men’s Health Menswear Collection 2014

Well what do you know, it’s fashion season already and SS 2014 kicked off with the Men’s Health Menswear Collection 2014. The Men’s Health Menswear Collection is South Africa’s first show dedicated to men’s fashion, something that was lacking on our already limited fashion calendar.

The event featured over 15 fashion labels and I was really impressed by what was being showcased. The best thing about this show though, is that it’s realistic in terms of wear-ability, style and most important, price – all these looks are from relatively affordable brands. My favourite looks were from French fashion brand,  Celio*, Scotch & Soda, Superdry and T.M Lewin.

Check out the full collection here.

Own a piece of Lyle & Scott’s history

To commemorate 140 years of Scottish heritage, artists, fans of the brand, and fashion enthusiasts commissioned by Lyle & Scott have each created an original masterpiece for The 140 Series.

Each creative involved in the submission phases created a unique artwork that represented their chosen year between 1874 and 2014. The 140 pieces of artwork are being used to construct a timeline that represents Lyle & Scott’s success and tireless innovation since 1874.

The 140 artworks are now available to view on the South Africa Lyle & Scott website www.lyleandscott.co.za. Viewers can bid on any artwork of their choice, all of which will have a reserve of R200.

The 140 masterpieces will take pride of place in Gallery MOMO, on 9th of October 2014 and each artist will receive full profit from their artwork. In addition to this the pieces of artwork that fetch the three highest bids will receive: R5000, R3000, and R2000, respectively.

These are some of my favourite pieces.

Park Chan-Wook for Ermenegildo Zegna’s Arose|Reborn

Zen what and Park Chan who?

Italian luxury fashion house, Ermenegildo Zegna have teamed up with (one of my favourites) Korean director Park Chan-Wook (Old Boy, Lady Vengeance and Stoker) to launch their latest campaign, “Arose|Reborn”.

The campaign focuses on the new breed of leaders and will be rolled out in a series of four films that will be released during September and October.

The first episode, “You’re not wearing that” was released on 15 September with the two lead actors impeccably dressed and styled in Zegna Couture, obviously.

I’m excited to see the campaign in its entirety but more so, the outfits and Chan-Wook’s treatment of the brand.
